Transforming the world through science

In the College of Science, we are committed to a shared purpose: To build a better world through scientific discovery. That’s why we go out there. Seeking answers to how life and the universe work. Pursuing curiosity-driven research wherever the questions lead. Inspiring solutions to society’s great challenges—climate change, animal and human health, data science and sustainable materials. Serving Oregon, the nation and the world.

Here, students experience, experiment, explore and learn. And build a foundation that opens up endless possibilities.

Science is better at Oregon State.

“Science has transformed our world for the better. It is the single greatest force for good in human history.”
Roy Haggerty Dean of the College of Science

Welcome from the Dean

As a scientist, I am always thinking about the state of science globally, nationally and in Oregon. Science is the single greatest force for good in human history. This is why we do the work we do—seeking knowledge that explains how life and the universe work, and applying new knowledge to solutions that improve human life and help preserve our planet.

If you are driven by a deep curiosity and desire to study science, our College offers future scientists, like you, the optimal environment to learn to make lasting contributions. Whether you are motivated to push the boundaries of cancer research, develop effective ways to protect our oceans, or make a difference in others’ lives through a health profession, we provide the tools and support for you to launch your journey.

Start here with a degree in science and go anywhere.
