Pre-medicine at Oregon State

Our pre-medicine program is designed to prepare students very well for entry into medical school. The pre-medicine program at OSU provides extensive support services, outstanding advising, rigorous emphases within the science majors and extensive opportunities for laboratory, field and clinical training in the United States and abroad. The good news is that 60–70% of our applicants are admitted compared to 33–40% nationally to medical schools all across the U.S.

Helping science majors thrive at OSU

The College has five science tutoring centers that provide academic support to any undergraduate student enrolled in math, statistics, biology, chemistry, biochemistry and physics courses. Our tutoring centers are staffed by student and faculty mentors who provide extensive drop-in service as well as workshops for students.

Everyone can use help now and then. Tutoring is much more than homework help. Studies have shown that students who make use of tutoring centers regularly gained more academically. This is especially true during students' first year of college.

The centers offer an inclusive and interactive environment where you can learn or review material from your classes. Our staff offer guidance and share study techniques to help reinforce information presented in the classroom while also helping you retain the knowledge through these academic services provided by both faculty and peer tutors. We strive to support you to develop the academic competence and confidence to succeed in science at OSU.
