Choose from a variety of majors.

Oregon State offers the greatest variety of majors of any university in Oregon. The College of Science combines academic rigor with a flexible curriculum to help you create your path to medical school. Whatever degree you choose, a science major will offer you the best possible foundation to succeed in medicine.

In the College of Science, six of our majors offer an official pre-med option, giving you a solid foundation in science that will prepare you to succeed in the MCAT and beyond: Biohealth Sciences, Biology, Biochemistry & Biophysics, Biochemistry & Molecular Biology, Chemistry and Microbiology.

Lean into high-powered research opportunities.

Medical schools prize substantive undergraduate research experiences. At Oregon State, our pre-med students have conducted research on neurodegenerative diseases, epigenetics, fluorescent sensors and much more under the guidance of eminent science faculty. We encourage all of our students to seek out inspiring research opportunities, supportive faculty mentors and undergraduate research scholarships.

“The big reason why I came to OSU, and why I really love it is because of the research opportunities.”
