Four science-centric tutoring centers to help you thrive

Everyone needs a little help now and then ... Sometimes all you need are the right tools. In addition to the wide array of academic support resources OSU has to offer, you'll have access to four science- and mathematics-themed tutoring centers right here in the College of Science.

Our tutoring centers are welcoming, friendly spaces where peer and faculty mentors offer guidance and share study techniques to help you grasp course materials and improve academic performance.

The Science Success Center (SSC)

The SSC is here to help you plan your future and take charge of your learning journey. It offers a great variety of resources and services to support your academic and personal growth, including:

  • Peer Advisors: Get advice and guidance on your academic and career goals from students who have been in your position.
  • Skill Development: Improve your study habits and personal skills.
  • Career Services: Explore career options, internships and job opportunities.
  • Tutoring: Access help with your coursework.
  • Student Organizations: Join clubs and groups to connect with fellow Beavs who share your interests.

Sigma Delta Omega Tutoring

Sigma Delta Omega is a science sorority that offers free one-on-one tutoring in various science courses.

OSU Student Success Resources

Academic Success Center

The Academic Success Center offers you academic coaching and will help you strategize for success. Academic Coaching is a series of conversations designed to enhance your well-being and your academic performance. Common discussion topics include time management, test preparation, test taking, procrastination, and stress reduction. Coaching appointments are individualized, so discussions focus on your unique experiences, strengths, challenges and goals.

Disability Access Services

The Disability Access Services (DAS) offers alternative testing, deaf and hard-of-hearing services, academic coaching, note-taking, faculty notification, early registration, DAS student handbook, tutorials and more to enhance student success at OSU.

Educational Opportunities Program

The Educational Opportunity Program (EOP) supports students of color, low-income and first-generation students or any students from historically underrepresented backgrounds through tutoring, academic counseling, scholarships and more. Some of the services offered at EOP include learning time management, major/career identification, internships and priority access to EOP sections of academic courses.

Loanable Equipment

The Library of Things is the Valley Library's center for loans on laptops, tablets and other technology. You can borrow laptops, monitor adapters, laptop chargers, phone chargers, headphones, board games, calculators and accessories for a day, a week or long-term. This program can be a lifesaver!

Undergraduate Research and Writing Studio

The Studio is a relaxed and friendly place where you can work with peers who will give you concrete feedback and advice on how to improve your writing. Located on the main floor of the Valley Library, the Studio provides one-stop assistance on all things related to the research and writing process.

An inclusive, creative and engaging place, this award-winning writing studio focuses on hands-on and experiential learning, with help delivered at the point of need. At the Studio, you will:

  • Explore: Identify your problem or topic, get your thoughts organized, see what's out there on your topic
  • Research: Find the best sources to support your assignment
  • Write: Pull it all together in a well-organized document

Supplemental Instruction tables

Supplemental Instruction (SI) is a program that offers peer-led, group study tables for challenging courses in the sciences. Supported courses change each term, so please check the website to find the current term’s supported courses. Study tables are led by SI Leaders — students like you who have successfully taken the course.
