Rachel Palmer, the new assistant director of career development in the College of Science has always "hit the ground running" and has no intention of slowing down. In this new position, Palmer aims to educate students on the importance of career development.
The COVID-19 pandemic is creating a surging interest in science and medicine, attracting a new generation of students to a career in medicine. Enrollment in the College of Science’s pre-med program at Oregon State University has also remained high, with numbers averaging 90-100 pre-med students annually since 2019.
The university-wide Beaver Connect mentoring program is one of several ambitious initiatives that have helped undergraduate student success, leading to the highest ever first-year retention rate of 85.4% at Oregon State University.
The College of Science celebrated its 2020 Winter Teaching and Advising Awards with faculty, advisors and students on February 13 to recognize exceptional teaching and advising, both areas of distinction in the College.
