Biography

Bill joined the OSU faculty in 1990. He spent formative years as Associate Dean in the University Honors College, where his principal duty was to recruit coursework from every corner of campus. Bill has participated actively in shared governance with the Faculty Senate and served as Director of Academic Programs, Assessment & Accreditation in Academic Affairs. Bill has served as Lead Advisor, Associate Chair, and Head of the Mathematics Department.

Research

Structure and classification of groups given by generators and relations. Low dimensional topology and homotopy theory. Asphericity of cell complexes and equations over groups.
