Welcome! My name is Hannah Ashton and I am the science writer for the College of Science. I research, write and produce science content for the college's website, blog (Impact), donor communications, alumni publications and student recruitment publications. I also help with written material for events and manage two of the colleges social media pages.

Previously, I was the business/agriculture/environment reporter for the Times-News in Twin Falls, Idaho. In 2022, my work won three awards from the Idaho Press Club: 2nd place Rookie of the Year, 3rd place General News Story and 3rd place Agriculture Report.

I have a master's in natural resources and environmental journalism from the University of Montana and a bachelor's in science communication from Washington State University. I also have a minor in environmental science from WSU.

My work has been published on the College of Science website, The Stater magazine, Impact magazine, the Times-News, Idaho Statesman, Idaho Press, Post Register, Montana Quarterly, Cool Green Science, The Daily Evergreen, Indian Country Today, and Conservation Frontlines Magazine.
