Chris joined the College of Science as Interim Proposal Coordinator in March, 2024 before joining the Research Development as a permanent proposal coordinator in Summer 2024. Originally from the Department of Microbiology, Chris is an environmental microbiologist focused on investigating the chemical drivers of microbial interactions in marine and aquatic environments. He received his Ph.D. in Biological Oceanography from the University of Southern California in 2017. He came to Oregon State University’s Department of Microbiology in 2017 as a postdoctoral scholar and was later promoted to Assistant Professor (Senior Research). In 2021 he established an externally funded research program focused on determining the chemical and microbial drivers of salmonid thiamin (vitamin B1) deficiency complex which is a major emerging threat to fisheries stability.
