Bettye L. S. Maddux
I am a scientist with over 30 years of experience in research and program/ project management. Currently, I am the Director of Research Development in the College of Science. Prior to this appointment, I was the Managing Director for the Center for Sustainable Materials Chemistry (CSMC), a large (>$25M) NSF funded Center for Chemical Innovation. Prior to CSMC, I was the Assistant Director for the Safer Nanomaterials and Nanomanufacturing Initiative (SNNI), a virtual Center funded by the Air Force Research laboratory ($20M). While in SNNI, I participated in the development of the International Standards Organization TC 229 (ISO/TC 229) to develop terminology for nanotechnology and lead in developing a standard for the Bio/ Nano interface. Before that, I managed a large ARO MURI ($15M) and I’ve also worked in Industry.
